- Get 1/2 tablespoon Poppy seeds (soak in water for 1-2 hours)

- Prepare To taste Salt
- Get 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- Take 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
- Take 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder
- Take 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
- Get 1 pinch Asafoetida
- Get 1/4 teaspoon Black mustard seeds (for tempering)
- Make ready 1-2 Bay leaves
- Prepare as required Oil
Jimmikand (as shown in picture below), Green Green chillies (finely chopped), Salt, Onion seeds, lemon juice, Coriander leaves, Mustard oil. Heat oil in a pan, add remaining mustard seeds, remaining red chillies and curry leaves. When the seeds begin to splutter add yam pieces, salt and turmeric powder and toss. Steps to make Yam Curry/Jimmikand Curry:
- Cut yam into pieces and pressure cook them until it gets properly cooked.
- Now grind soaked black and yellow mustard seeds, poppy seeds salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder into fine paste.
- Now coat boiled yam with a bit if red chilli powder and salt.
- Meanwhile heat oil in a wok and shallow fry these yams.
- Now take out extra oil from the wok and leave 2-3 tablespoons of oil in it.
- Now add bay leaves, black mustard seeds and asafoetida in it and allow them to crackle.
- In it, now add ground mustard paste and cook it well.
- Now add curd in it and cook it for 5-8 minutes.
- Now add water in it as per your requirement and bring it to a boil.
- Then add fried yams in it and cook it for another 10 minutes then add lemon juice it and switch off the flame.
- Garnish it with coriander leaves and your yam curry/jimmikand curry is ready to serve now.
