Steps to make Moth Daal ki Sabji:
  1. Wash moth daal well and soak it in water at least for 7-8 hours.
  2. Drain it and put it in a pressure cooker along with potato. Add 2 cups of water and a pinch of salt. Close the lid and put the pressure cooker on medium heat for 1-2 whistles. Remove from the heat and let the pressure go down by it self.
  3. Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and then chopped onion. Fry till onion turns brown. Add ginger garlic paste and saute till the raw smell of garlic goes away. Now add chopped tomato and cook till soft. Next add turmeric powder, chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and salt to taste. Saute for few minutes till oil leaves the sides of the pan.
  4. Now open the lid of the pressure cooker and pour the boiled moth daal into the pan. Mix it well with the spices and cook on low flame for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Then add garam masala powder and mix well. Cover and turn off the flame.
  6. Serve hot gararnished with chopped onion and coriander leaves. This goes well with roti, paratha or rice.
