The ingredients needed to make Mükimo(Njahi):
  1. Make ready 1 cup Njahi(boiled)
  2. Prepare Green bananas cooked(Hot)
  3. Make ready 2 large onions
  4. Prepare 3 stems spring onions
  5. Take 1 Teaspoon miced garlic and ginger
  6. Take 1 Teaspoon rosemary
  7. Prepare 1/2 Teaspoon gram masala spice
  8. Prepare to taste Salt
  9. Get 1 Tablespoon margarine/butter

I tell my mum that if it were possible, she would add waru in tea. @bettywaitherero. Mukimo is pretty much the easiest thing to make. Any Kikuyu dish is easy to make. 😀 Even Karen Blixen alluded to this historical fact in Out of Africa. She had this Kikuyu young man she trained to.

Steps to make Mükimo(Njahi):
  1. Under medium heat fry the onions, ginger, garlic and rosemary powder.
  2. Add spring onions
  3. Add the Njahi
  4. Keep turning to avoid burning
  5. Add the green bananas, they should be hot for them to be mashed easily
  6. Start mashing and mixing them
  7. Add margarine/butter and continue mashing until it's smooth.
  8. Serve with your favourite stew, kachumbari or guacamole

Only other way I can have Njahi apart from in a mukimo variation.. Njahi with green and ripe bananas/mashed black beans with bananas/mukimo ya njahi.
