These Snickerdoodles are leavened using a combination of cream of tartar and baking soda. Try chai spiced and pumpkin spice versions, too! A plain snickerdoodle is good, but wouldn't you rather have it stuffed with cheesecake, blended into a milkshake, or crumbled on top of a summer fruit crisp? Instructions to make Snickerdoodles:
  1. Preheat over to 375°F
  2. Using a handheld mixer cream the butter OR crisco and sugar.
  3. Next add the egg then vanilla extract and beat until well combined.
  4. Add dry ingredients in a separate bowl. Flour, Baking Powder & Salt. Stir to combine.
  5. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients. Beat with mixer to combine.
  6. Optional Step: This is where I like to place the dough in the fridge while I tidy up the dishes. It makes forming the dough balls in the next step easier in my opinion and my kitchen gets cleaned up😉
  7. Combine sugar & cinnamon for rolling the dough balls. Stir to combine.
  8. Form the dough into 1 inch balls. Roll each ball in the sugar & cinnamon mixture until well coated then place on cookie sheet.
  9. Bake at 375°F for 8-10 minutes.
